About STEMNest
We're a small team of UK parents on a mission to help families discover educational toys that actually deliver on their promises.
Why We Started STEMNest
It began with a simple question: "Which digital microscope should I buy for my 7-year-old?"
What we found online was a mess. Dozens of "top 10" lists clearly written by people who'd never touched the products. Amazon reviews that couldn't be trusted. And nobody was writing specifically for UK parents with UK pricing and availability.
So we decided to do it ourselves. We bought microscopes, science kits, and coding toys with our own money. We tested them with our own children and their friends. We took notes on what sparked genuine excitement and what ended up forgotten in a drawer after a week.
STEMNest is the resource we wish had existed when we started. Every review is based on real testing. Every recommendation is something we'd genuinely buy for our own families.
"We wanted to create the honest, no-nonsense resource that UK parents actually need — not another affiliate-driven top-10 list."— The STEMNest Team
What We Stand For
The principles that guide every review, recommendation, and piece of content we publish.
Radical Transparency
We clearly disclose affiliate relationships and never let them influence our rankings. If a product is rubbish, we'll tell you — even if it means losing commission.
Hands-On Testing
We don't regurgitate spec sheets. Every product is unboxed, assembled, and tested by real children in real homes. We note what works, what breaks, and what actually holds attention.
UK-First Focus
All our prices are in GBP. All products are available from UK retailers. Shipping estimates and availability are checked for British families specifically.
Parent-Friendly Content
We know parents are busy. Our reviews are concise, scannable, and get to the point quickly. No padding, no fluff, just the information you need to make a confident decision.
How We Review Products
Our testing process is thorough, fair, and designed to answer the questions real parents have.
We Buy It Ourselves
We purchase every product with our own money from UK retailers. No free samples, no sponsored units. This keeps our reviews genuinely independent.
Kids Test It
Our testers are always children aged 4–12. We observe their initial reaction, how long they stay engaged, and whether they return to it over several weeks.
Parents Evaluate
We assess setup difficulty, mess levels, battery life, build quality, and value for money. Basically — everything that matters to the person buying it.
We Write Honestly
Every review includes genuine pros and cons. If something disappoints, we say so. No product has ever received a perfect score from us.
